Role: Assistant Director / Animation consultant
Extintos was a branded animated mini-series developed for Bavaria’s Póker, involving multiple creative stakeholders and animation studios. While the concept was strong, the brand lacked in-house animation expertise, making coordination, feasibility, and consistency critical from early development through delivery.
Challenge
The main challenge was keeping a multi-studio series on track creatively, technically, and financially. It required translating the agency’s and director’s vision into clear, executable direction for each animation team without compromising quality or deadlines.
Direction & Oversight
I acted as a bridge between the agency, director, and animation studios, helping turn creative intent into actionable production guidance. I also supported feasibility review, cross-team feedback, and decision-making to maintain alignment and visual consistency across a four-month production cycle involving more than 60 contributors.
Impact
Extintos became the most-viewed animated digital series in Colombian advertising at the time, reaching 30M+ views in under two months and generating more than 500,000 hours of watch time. The campaign also achieved 90% positive audience sentiment, contributed to a 10% sales increase for Bavaria’s Póker, and received 1 Gold and 3 Bronze awards at the El Dorado Festival in Film Craft.
"Diego was key in helping the project stay on track through a demanding production process. His ability to solve problems quickly and bring clarity to complex situations made a real difference in delivering the series successfully."
