Spotify set out to expand Today’s Top Hits beyond the platform by launching a dedicated Instagram presence. The goal was to translate the energy and visual language of major artists into short-form animated pieces that could live natively on social media, without diluting either the artist’s identity or Spotify’s brand.
The challenge
Delivering visually distinctive, artist-driven animation under high brand sensitivity, tight social-media formats, and multiple creative stakeholders while ensuring consistency, clarity, and on-time delivery.
My role & key decisions
- Led art and animation direction for a dedicated piece within a multi-studio launch.
- Translated Bad Bunny’s album universe into a clear visual system that could scale to short-form animation.
- Coordinated a small, specialized team while aligning closely with Tunjayork, Dreambear, and Spotify’s creative expectations.
- Structured feedback loops to protect both the artist’s identity and Spotify’s brand standards.
- Prioritized clarity and impact over complexity to ensure the animations performed in a social-first environment.
